Mr. Ray is the new high school teacher this year at Carmel Christian School. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and spent a lot of his childhood outside, camping and going on trips to other countries. Mr. Ray has been to Japan three times and went to a Japanese immersion school for eight years to learn how to read Japanese. He mentions that he especially loves the food in Japan. This is Mr. Ray’s ninth year in education; he taught in two other Christian schools and one charter school before coming to Carmel. When asked why he chose to teach history, Mr. Ray said, “History is very important. I like to learn about our achievements and downfalls, as well as incorporating scripture into my lessons.” Mr. Ray says he felt led to come to Carmel because of his love of ministry and Carmel’s reputation for disciple building.

In his free time, Mr. Ray enjoys taking his daughter to the playground and exploring outdoors. When Mr. Ray is away from school, he enjoys watching movies and reading books. His favorite movies are Oh Brother Where Art Thou and Inception, and his favorite book is The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. He also likes deli sandwiches and French onion soup. Mr. Ray is excited to bring history alive and to share his passion for the Lord. Welcome to the Carmel family, Mr. Ray!
