The air is getting cooler, a breeze is starting to rustle through the trees, and leaves are beginning to float down. Winter is coming- and with that, a Carmel favorite is ready to happen!

Occurring in December for the first time this year, Homecoming festivities are gearing up to begin!

The Homecoming Court has been picked out and the Spirit Days have been announced- now all that is left is finding the perfect (dress-code approved!) outfit and making plans for the special dance. Homecoming “asks” have started in fervor these past couple of weeks, and it is almost impossible to walk through the hallways without hearing mutterings about who is going with whom.

Through an anonymous survey conducted by The Blue and Gold, over 80% of the Carmel student body is planning to attend the Homecoming dance, which is a “Winter Wonderland” theme. In fact, only around 3% of students responded with a definite “no” to the dance, with the remaining 15% on the fence about making an appearance at the dance.

Homecoming plans can be tedious to pull together, with juggling dates and friends becoming a delicate balancing act. While many high school students choose to go with a large group, around 40% of the students are planning to or have already asked someone.

Of course, the how of the “asking” is of utmost importance. Although more and more times the “ask” is done over phone, or even more concerning, text. Thankfully, only 4% of Carmel students are planning to ask over the phone (shame!), with 40% honing their arts and crafts skills to create a poster.

Posters have started popping up throughout campus with lights, glitter, and even in one especially thoughtful occasion, candles. It is abundantly clear though, no matter how simple or complicated the “ask” is, the Carmel student body is excited for Homecoming. Buy your tickets here!
