Talented twins: the Robins take center stage
Karleigh and Savannah Robin are a twincredible duo in the senior class! The two joined the Carmel Body in the 6th grade. Karleigh states that their family desired to attend a Christian school and after touring multiple around Charlotte, they then realized Carmel was the perfect fit. The girls, who are known for their involvement in Carmel’s theater program, interest in theater stemmed from their upbringing in dance classes and recitals starting at the age of two. After being cast in the middle school performance of “Peter Pan”, they found their talents and love for the stage.
When asked about their biggest accomplishment, Savannah shares, “Being cast as the lead in this year’s production of “Anastasia.’” Karleigh is most proud of her recent performance in the tenth anniversary of the Blumey Awards at the Belk Theatre. Throughout their six years on campus, the two have been a part of the following productions: “Peter Pan,” “Singing in the Rain,” “Mary Poppins,” and now “Anastasia.” Karleigh also had the opportunity to serve on the tech crew for “Honk Jr”. in sixth grade and “Robin Hood” in tenth grade. The twins share that they have been most inspired by the CCS arts staff who have worked with them throughout their careers. Karleigh states, “Mrs. Spruill, Mrs. Sanderson, Mrs. McCorkle, Mrs. Caton, the whole arts staff has been so amazing, encouraging and inspiring to both of us.” Both agree that they probably wouldn’t have been so involved in the theater if it wasn’t for them.
As the opening night of “Anastasia” approaches in the next few months, the girls are beginning to feel the excitement. They are looking forward to working with such an amazing cast and crew one last time before they graduate. Karleigh shares that within her role she has moments in the show where she shares scenes and songs with her sister. Both girls are eager to share the stage one last time as they end their time as CCS.
Their love for theater will continue as the two take on new stages at college. Savannah plans to study musical theater and dance, and Karleigh plans to study theater education, theater for youth and/or dance in college. Whether you spot them on the stage or see them in the classroom, the Robin twins have certainly left an impact on Carmel’s community in more ways than one!
