Evan Millsap is a Junior at Carmel Christian School. This is his first year at Carmel, as he moved to Charlotte two months ago, right before school started. Millsap is originally from San Francisco, California; he grew up in the suburbs right outside of the city. Although Millsap enjoyed his time in California, his parents wanted to move to Charlotte. In December of last year, Millsap and his siblings visited Charlotte and shadowed at three different schools. Millsap eventually decided to attend Carmel Christian because he felt like it was the right fit for him. Millsap states “I shadowed with Keegan O’Bryan, and I remember I sat with him in Mrs. Abbott’s government class. It felt like such a friendly and welcoming environment, and my siblings felt the same.”
While living in California, Millsap spent a lot of time with his family, specifically his grandparents, who live in San Diego. Millsap states that he appreciates the environment of San Diego greater than San Francisco. Millsap also enjoys speedcubing, which is an activity he participated in while living in California. Speedcubing is a competition that combines problem solving with 3 dimensional thinking. Millsap had a group of close friends who he would travel and compete with, which he says was a exciting and adventurous hobby.
Millsap also spends his free time running, biking and swimming. He loves partaking in energetic activities and spending time outside. He also enjoys traveling with his family. In fact, he has come to learn and appreciate different languages throughout his time traveling to different places.
Millsap has had an incredible experience in his time at Carmel so far. He has made a lot of good friends and appreciates his classes and teachers. He is extremely thankful that it has been an easy transition from California to North Carolina.
