Christmas experiences in Charlotte are vast and wide. All around town, Charlotte and the surrounding areas find special ways to share in the holiday spirit! Some of these activities include Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Christmas lights, ice skating, Mcadenville and Carrowind’s Winterfest.
Charlotte Motor Speedway holds a yearly Christmas attraction for all drivers to enjoy. This attraction has been going on for nearly fifteen years and has no plans of stopping. but the price is worth it. The price ranges from $35 to $45 depending on the day that you go, but the entrance price is well worth it. Once you reach the speedway you are directed onto the NASCAR track. Although you’re not going nearly the same speed as Jeff Gordon might have gone, the speed of the cars allows you to enjoy the nearly 4 million Christmas lights on the short four mile drive.
Mcadenville, otherwise known as “Christmas Town U.S.A”, is a famous Christmas attraction in North Carolina. Mcadenvilles claim to fame is the light show throughout the town. The lights began in 1956 and still continue to this day. Mcadenville opened Dec. 2 and will continue through Dec. 26. There are many ways to enjoy the light show in Mcadenville. Driving through the town will provide you the opportunity to stay warm while taking in the views, but will hinder you from enjoying the local shops. Walking through Mcadenville seems to be what most do. You can stop at the firestation for a nice warm cup of hot chocolate and other stores and restaurants. Walking also enhances the view because you do not have to wait through an hour of traffic in order to get into the town. Mcadenville opens at 5:30 PM and stays lit until 10:00 PM. Overall, Mcadenville is a wonderful place to make memories with friends and family.
Another super popular activity in Charlotte during the holiday season is ice skating. The city offers many different places to enjoy this winter pastime, but two of the most well-known and beloved locations are the U.S. National Whitewater Center and The Charlotte Knights ball park at Truist Field. These venues attract visitors not only because of their great skating rinks but also due to the festive, vibrant atmosphere they create. People love ice skating at these spots because of the beautiful holiday decorations, with both locations being adorned with an abundance of sparkling Christmas lights that add a magical touch to the experience. Whether skating under twinkling lights at the Whitewater Center or on the outdoor rink by the stadium, the environment is always filled with holiday cheer. The combination of the crisp winter air, the glow of the lights and the joyful sounds of holiday music makes these locations a fun and memorable place to spend time with friends and family. It’s a popular hangout spot for both locals and visitors, offering a perfect winter wonderland experience. Whether you’re an experienced skater or just trying it out for the first time, these festive ice skating rinks provide an enjoyable way to celebrate the season.
Winterfest is at Carowinds Christmas themed park. During the Halloween season it is called Scarowinds, but during the holiday season, it is Winterfest. This is the same Carowinds park that everyone knows and loves, without a couple of roller coasters, but there is a ton of Christmas themed activities. You can try tons of different holiday foods, go ice skating, and much more. There is also always Christmas music being played throughout the park.
With Christmas day quickly approaching, there are many places and events that are scattered through the Charlotte. The city does its very best to showcase the special season that December brings! Whether you are ice skating under the Uptown skyline, shopping local vendors at the many holiday markets or simply sitting by a fire with close friends, the Spirit of Christmas can be felt throughout Charlotte.
