Ms. Sophie Muir-Taylor, Editor-in-Chief of the Blue & Gold, takes ownership of her “newsroom” to help inspire her journalists to conduct and produce media that will impact the Carmel Christian student body as a whole. This will be Ms. Muir-Taylor’s second year on staff at Carmel, serving as the 10th Grade American Literature and Media/ Journalism teacher. Before moving to Charlotte, Ms. Muir-Taylor was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, alongside her four siblings and her wonderful parents. Her knowledge and aspirations for journalism and teaching were able to prosper through the education she received at the University of Alabama. When Ms. Muir-Taylor is not found in her classroom teaching, she is spending time exploring the city of Charlotte with new friends, reading, running and more.

The Blue & Gold was left in her hands by Jennifer Dixon, the founder of the journalism program here at Carmel. Ms. Muir-Taylor minored in journalism which equipped her with all the skills in order to continue on the CCS program. Ms. Muir-Taylor is thrilled to see an environment where students can publish work of their own and is excited to see what the 2023-24 staff accomplishes this year.
