One of the best parts of autumn is taking time to view some of the lovely films and television shows that pertain to the season. To help you get further into the mood of pumpkin carving, leave crushing and sweater wearing, here’s a list of some cozy (and maybe even spooky!) films and television shows for the rest of the fall:
🍁 Films and specials: 🍁
- ☠ Tim Burton films
- Tim Burton is the filmmaker behind numerous not-so-scary flicks, such as “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Beetlejuice.” His use of German expressionism and gothic themes makes the majority of his filmography a staple for the season.
- 🦊 “Fantastic Mr. Fox”
- 🎃 “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”
- 🪙 “The Goonies”
- 🥀 “The Addams Family” franchise
- Charles Addams’ comic strip “The Addams Family” has inspired several different forms of media adaptations in the past 80 years. The Addamses are typically referenced this time of year due to their love of grotesque eclecticism.
- 🪩 “The Wiz”
- 🏚 “Monster House”
- 🍗 “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”
- 🐈⬛ Laika Studios films
- Laika is a stop-motion animation studio based near Portland, Oregon. Their spookier films include “Coraline” and “ParaNorman,” but they’re also the team behind films such as “The Boxtrolls.”
🍁 TV series: 🍁
- 🍂 “Gilmore Girls”
- 🕸 “The Munsters”
- 🐦 “Over the Garden Wall”

You have great taste! I personally love Tim Burton as well and even saw the 30th anniversary re-screening of Nightmare before Christmas. I’m also very glad you included Monster House, that is such a forgotten classic!
