This week’s student of the week winner needs no introduction: Elijah Chen. Chen has been going to Carmel all of his life and has become well known throughout the school. He is even a student officer in this year’s student government.
Chen has been known to do a lot of extracurricular activities. He plays musical instruments such as piano and the cello. Not only does he play the instruments for fun, but Chen also plays the cello in an orchestra.
An interesting fact about Chen is that he enjoys playing classical music, but he enjoys listening to it too. When asked about something people may not know about him, he said, “well I think people know that I play some instruments, but they might now know that I actually listened to classical music.” When asked about his favorite artist, he said Rachmanioff was his favorite.
Though Chen loves music, he also enjoys playing sports for Carmel too. His freshman year in high school, he played on the Varsity Tennis Team for Carmel and was a very notable player on the team.
When asked about his favorite part about Carmel, he replied, “I love the people here, like my friends and teachers here. They also care about God.” Chen realizes how important it is to have strong relationships with both peers and mentors.
To say that Chen has a busy schedule would be an understatement. He does a lot for the school whether it’s student government or participating in his orchestra. Chen is a splendid friend, student, musician and athlete. He is sure to leave an impact in his remaining years in high school!
