As Reese Fletcher enters her 10th year at Carmel Christian, she is excited about beginning high school and the new opportunities waiting on her horizon!
Soccer has always been rooted inside Fletcher, and starting at the age of 2, she was out on the field kicking balls and scoring goals. Currently, Fletcher plays for the CSA ECNL 09 U16 team, which she enjoys. In the past, however, Fletcher made an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on Carmel’s Varsity team as a 7th grader! She says “being a 7th and 8th grader on varsity was super fun. It was fun being the younger one watching the older girls talk about what high school was like. I made some really good friends and we all had so much fun!” Fletcher not only had the opportunity to grow in her soccer skills and assist the team, but she also made relationships with people she otherwise would have never interacted with.
One of Fletcher’s greatest accomplishments was her attendance at the US women’s soccer camp in Maryland during her 7th grade year. She states “I had to fly out by myself and go play soccer with US coaches with other girls from our region. There were maybe 30-40 girls out of the whole east coast. We were there from Thursday through Monday.” 7th grade was a big year for Fletcher, making progress not only out of school playing soccer, but also being an incredible asset to Carmel’s team! She says “When I played varsity soccer in 7th and 8th grade, I started and played full games. I scored 3 goals in 7th grade, and I was the lead scorer last year with 6 goals.” Fletcher’s passion for soccer is clearly evident in the way she carries herself across the field, and anyone watching can see how passionate and excited she is about the sport.
Although Fletcher is most known for her incredible soccer skills, she has so much more to offer and there is so much more to uncover about her character. For example, she enjoys the time she spends with her friends more than anything, but she also has an artistic side as well that many don’t know about! She says normally her sister, Lakyn Fletcher, is known as the “artsy” one, but soccer isn’t Fletcher’s only passion, as she enjoys doing art projects with her friends in her free time.
Fletcher has spent her entire life in Carmel Christian, and she says that what she admires most about this school is how at home she feels when she walks through the doors. She is so comfortable with the environment and the dynamics of how the school works, and she is so thankful for her close relationships with her peers. Not only is Fletcher looking forward to growing in her soccer skills throughout high school, but she is also looking forward to growing relationships with her fellow peers in her last 4 years at Carmel!
