Faith Avery has been attending Carmel Christian since 5th grade, and she is currently a sophomore. Before coming to Carmel, Faith lived in a number of different places. She was born in Missouri, but because her father was in the army, she moved all over the country throughout her childhood. She expressed that this was a difficult experience for her to go through because of the lack of stability, but as she grew older, the instability became her norm. Avery attended Village Christian Academy in Fort Bragg, NC, in her Elementary years. She recalls that “it was the longest place I had ever stayed, which was about three years. I loved my friends there so much, and I enjoyed the experience of the school as well. Leaving was difficult, but I really love my life here too.”
Avery has been playing tennis since she was a little girl, always finding joy in her time out on the court! She began her tennis career because of an inspiration from her older sister, Reaghan Avery. The siblings are extremely close and find time to spend with each other frequently, whether that be on the court or simply catching a bite to eat together! Avery has always looked up to her older sister and found her to be such an inspiration in her love and passion for tennis.
Avery has been playing on the Carmel Varsity tennis team since she was in 7th grade, which she views as an incredible experience and is grateful for this opportunity that she has. Avery states, “I just love the sport so much. Not only is it competitive and athletic, but it is also just really fun to play friendly doubles with my best friend Chloe Spies.” Avery loves how tennis can be both relaxing and competitive. Along with this, she enjoys the environment of the Carmel Christian varsity team, stating that the other girls are wonderful to play with and that they all have such sweet souls!
Not only does Avery enjoy playing tennis, but she also has numerous other interests and hobbies to fill her days! She loves to run, cook, hang out with friends on the weekends, shop, watch television and fish. With her friends, she enjoys attending Carmel Christian sports games, specifically the basketball games. Avery states “I love attending all of the sports games because they are so fun to watch, but the vibe of the student section during basketball games is my absolute favorite! I love cheering on my school and it is just a really fun experience to have with my friends.”
Avery has enjoyed her first two years of high school so far, and she is so excited for her future at Carmel! She is also excited for her future beyond Carmel.
