Giselle and Grady Tenny are sophomores at Carmel, where they’ve been part of the school community since the third-grade. The twins, originally from Beverly Woods Elementary, made the move to Carmel with their older siblings.
Growing up with their two brothers, Britt and Chet Tenny, the family spent countless hours together, enjoying a variety of games. The Tenny siblings often found themselves outside, playing freeze tag, kickball and other energetic games that kept them active and close-knit. Their shared experiences and outdoor adventures helped shape a strong bond between them. They both stated that they looked up to their brothers while growing up and were heavily inspired by their parents.
Giselle has found a passion for music, learning all sorts of impressive abilities. She can play guitar, sing and even taught herself how to play piano! Giselle said, “Something people don’t know about me is that I try to write music.” Her musical interest spreads to her playlists as she has one for every month! She specifically enjoys Lizzie McAlpine. The guitar in McAlpine’s songs draw Giselle in and she sees her as a musical role model.
Beyond her musical talents, Giselle has a deep love for animals, especially her two dogs, Willow and Siggy, who bring her endless joy. She also has a talent for crochet! She specifically enjoys creating stuffed animals. She enjoys crocheting the most on a rainy day, finding it to be a relaxing and satisfying way to spend her time. She also enjoys puzzles as a hobby.
Since joining Carmel, Giselle has found a supportive and welcoming community of girls who have become an important part of her life. “Yeah, the girls are great,” she states, “I feel like we’re all close.”
Grady joined Carmel’s cross country team in eighth grade, following suit with his friends. He has remained committed to the team for the past three years, building strong connections with his teammates along the way. He said, “I joined the cross country team in eighth grade because all my friends wanted me to… I learned I was pretty good.” In addition to cross country, Grady stays active by playing basketball in a church league made up of his friends, where he enjoys both the competition and camaraderie.
Grady also had an interest in reptiles, owning a pet snake, Sunny the ball python. Beyond his interest in reptiles, Grady also has a passion for the Spanish language and the rich culture associated with it. His interest was sparked during a church trip to the Dominican Republic, where he had the opportunity to connect with the locals and experience their positive energy firsthand. He said, “The people there were incredibly kind, and I wanted to be able to connect with them better.”
Giselle and Grady continue to thrive in their sophomore year at Carmel, each pursuing their passions and making the most of their high school experience. Together Tenny Twins are a staple for their grade and the school!
