Carson Russell
Carson Russell is a new addition to the Blue and Gold staff this year! Russell is an outgoing senior who enjoyed his time in the Media and Journalism I class which led him to join the staff this year. He, along with many others, will be producing a plethora of wonderful stories for the Carmel body before heading off to college.
Russell was born in Greensboro, N.C.; however, his family moved to Washington D.C. where they lived for five years. The family made the move back to Charlotte, N.C., and Russell and his three siblings joined the Carmel Christian community 2016-2017 school year.
Currently, Russell is involved in both the varsity Carmel soccer and baseball teams, though this is just his first year playing soccer. He has many fond memories from his experiences at Carmel, especially after winning the playoff game of baseball his sophomore year. He also enjoys hanging and working out with friends. He loves to go to the beach and is a big fan of burgers! In his free time, he works on his landscaping and home maintenance business, especially in the summer, as a very productive job.
Russell plans on attending college after graduation, and he is looking into going to NC State and majoring in finance. He then plans on starting his own business, possibly something in the world of sales with a focus on working with people.
Russell’s plans for this year are to produce interesting and unique stories for the student body. He hopes to cover what people would typically not hear about or would go unnoticed as a chance to acknowledge various areas of the student body and school. Russell also hopes to help educate the student body about the world around them. He wants to provide the students with election updates and the current political phenomena, especially since a handful of his senior class are able to vote this year. Russell is a dedicated and passionate student journalist, who is looking forward to his year on The Blue and Gold.
