The CCS women’s varsity soccer team has had a great season so far, growing both as players and as a team. Led by their new coach, Chase Wickham, they have all improved a lot and continue to get better every game. Over the past few years, the team has built strong friendships, and the close bonds really show on the field. Because they’re not just teammates but also friends, the team works well together and plays with trust and confidence, which has helped them succeed this season.
One of the varsity players, Reese Fletcher, stated how significant an impact being on a team has had on her. She says, “Playing soccer really helps me with my teamwork abilities. Being on this team with my friends is so fun, and I love getting to work my best for them and myself.” Fletcher also states that the new coach, Wickham, has helped the team grow: “Our new coach this year, Chase, has really worked hard to push all of us to our best abilities. He notices what we need to work on and addresses it the next day. He pushes us all to play our best.”
The varsity assistant coach, David Fox, has been coaching this team for the past eight years. When asked about the most important thing he tells his players, he stated, “Trust in the work they have put in to prepare for this moment.” Last year, the varsity women’s soccer team finished with 13 wins and 5 losses, including a loss in the state playoff quarterfinals. With the end of the season approaching, Fox was asked about how the team has been doing so far. He responded, “We entered spring break with a 9-3 record and are currently ranked #3 in the NCISAA 4A division.” Fox and Wickham both work hard to cultivate a positive environment for the team. Fox states, “We have great leaders on the team who help set the tone and culture across the team [and] anchoring the program on using the gifts that God has given us to glorify Him through the sport of soccer.”
As the team concludes its season, show your support for the women’s soccer team at their upcoming home games!

I like how there was a quote from both a player and a coach, showing how more than just one player views the team.

I really like Reese’s quote because it showed how she felt like the team was coming together. I also liked the quotes from the coaches because it showed how they saw the team as well.
